About Chris Mack Rock DJ
The 90’s
Chris Mack Rock DJ didn’t start off this way. He started DJing in the early 90’s after buying a set of Technics SL1210’s. Going to HMV every week to update his vinyl collection and self teaching himself how to mix. Then as a mobile DJ doing fun pubs, nightclubs with the occasional private parties working for a local agent.
In 1996 was offered a job in Zante (Greece) and spent 6 months DJing in a bar called The Wreck. After the summer season was over it was back into the club circuit. He performed at nightclubs in Hereford (Crystal Rooms), Whitchurch (Jackie Browns) and Oswestry (The Vic). All whilst still doing the fun pubs etc.
The 00’s
In 2001 Chris was offered a nightclub in Macau (Hong Kong) which he accepted straight away. At the last moment it fell through but the agent offered him a rock and roll bar in Taiwan instead. As the bar had not yet opened he started out in one of the chain bars in Wanchai (Hong Kong). Close to 4 months in Hong Kong and learning a different style of music, they flew Chris out to Taipei. For the first month Chris had to go around all the bars and checkout the local music scene. With the grand opening a month later the bar was a massive hit with him being the very first foreign resident DJ in the country. After over a year of playing Rock, Indie, alternative and many other styles of music Chris decided to pack his bags and come home.
He got his mobile disco back together and got back on the circuit again. This time focusing more on the private parties with mobile discos but still keeping his hand in the fun pubs and nightclubs. In the mid 00’s he moved to the West Midlands (Kidderminster) and worked for 2 agents. This placed him in several hotels all over Shropshire and the West Midlands doing Weddings and parties etc. and by the end of the 00’s he had completely fazed out the club and pub scene.
2010’s
After a few years of working with agents and finding his feet Chris decided to start his own business and has not looked back. Since starting with just a basic website Chris has added the Wedding page and due to his love of Rock and Indie the Rock page to the website. Since then he has become one of the most sought after Rock DJ’s in the country. With bookings from couples having their wedding in the UK but living in Canada, Spain, Sweden and New Zealand the website has been a massive hit. He has also added the OLD SKOOL page to the site to reflect on his 90’s skills in the clubs and pubs.
Recently he has also taken on several DJ’s to promote a more specialist style of DJ’s. Now Chris and his team have developed an ‘out of the box’ style that will keep any party fresh and exciting and going with the new company name of Chris Mack Specialist DJ’s.
2020 on wards
It’s been a very tough start to the next decade for everyone, but back and full on now with the aim to focusing more on the rock and indie. The demand for DJ’s has amped up a notch with lots of postponed events being re-organised. The need to build on the foundations Chris has created with the business and his team has become even more focused and we look forward to the challenges ahead.
For personal reasons, Chris has taken a step back from DJing and will not be doing as much as he used to. Paul will be the primary DJ from now on.
Highlights
2016 Chris went down to a venue called the Sanctum in Soho (London) where he was employed to play rock music in support of a band called ‘Bones’ little did he know that the woman who booked him was the wife of the one and only Roger Taylor (Queen Drummer) and he had the privilege of meeting the legend himself.
2017 Chris worked the weekend at Butlins Bognor Regis to work on the progressive rock stage supporting several bands including the 60’s band called ‘The Zombies’
2021 Chris has now done his first festival DJing to 12,000 people and wants more, also this year he Dj’ed at Wayne Manor, the building they used in Dark Knight Rises (Wollaton Hall)
Awards
Chris has won Your Online Wedding Planner award for best entertainment in 2014 and he won the LUX Best Wedding DJ 2017 West Midlands.
