Hodge (Stephen Hodgetts)

On his 11th Birthday, Stephen was given a collection of albums which after repeated plays, firmly
planted the music bug well within. Over the following 4 years Stephen collected Vinyl from
anywhere he could, opening his love of music even further.
At 16, Stephen started DJing, mainly for fun, with his first Customer paying DJ gig at the age of 17.
Over the next 30 years Stephen has played well over 3500 events including Weddings, Birthdays,
Engagements, Openings, Specialist Events, Hotels, Nightclubs, Christmas Parties and Corporate work.

DJs Choice

Stephen growing up, the radio was always on at home, so we would hear Wizzard, Suzi Quattro, Tony &
Dawn, Peters & Lee, ABBA and The Osmonds to name but a few. As the years went on, music
changed and I discovered Rap music. I soon realised this was going to cultivate into a passion and
started to follow Run DMC, Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, Grandmaster Flash and The Beastie Boys.
Although my love of rap and hip-hop (now old-skool) is still there, as I got older I found a new passion in Queen, Genesis and John
Michel-Jarre. Additionally I have also been to see live acts including Phats & Small, Boney M, Rozalla, Elton John, Olly Murs, The
Levellers, Spice Girls, Britney Spears and John Michel-Jarre.

The Club Years

In 1999, Stephen was offered a night at a Chicago Rock Café when seen DJing by a member of staff. From this one night Stephen
became a valued member of the Team, working in Worcester, Gloucester, Bristol, Swindon, Taunton, Barnstaple and Truro. Music
and video mixing were needed at all venues and every night had to be different to the last.
Night clubs also wanted Stephen, including Destiny & Desire, Embassy & Nights and Liquid, some nights being in excess of 600
people through the door.

Music Range

Because of Stephen’s depth of music knowledge, none of his gigs are play-list only. Any night can be a DJ/Client collaboration to
ensure the best result.
Stephen can play from genres covering the 1950’s to today’s chart tunes including Country & Western, Rock and Metal, New
Romantic and Disco, R&B and Happy Hardcore, Punk and Party, Tamla & Soul, Rave and Reggae plus good old Rock‘n’Roll.

What can you expect?

Stephen will arrive in plenty of time, design his set-up and create a light show which can include lasers, smoke/haze, bubbles, foam,
flames and confetti cannons.
The music can be pre-planned with requests or left entirely to Stephen ‘read’ the dance floor.

Event Hosting

Stephen also has many years’ experience acting as Master of Ceremony, Toast Master, Quiz Master and Charity Fun Auctioneer.
A music quiz can be written for pretty much any event, examples of previous quizzes include 60’s, 80’s, James Bond, TV Adverts,
Children’s TV Themes, Songs from the Shows, plus some very client-specific topics.
Stephen can organise and act as Quizmaster for popular Wedding games including Mr. & Mrs. Shoe and Couple’s Crossword.
