Wes & Hannah 18th September 2021 – The West Mill Indie Wedding by DJ Paul Simpson
The West Mill indie wedding in Derby is a venue which Chris has visited previously and was the location for Wes and Hannah’s wedding on 18th September. If you are looking for a wedding venue in the Derbyshire area the converted West Mill comes well recommended. The Venue has been beautifully yet tastefully restored from an old cotton mill into an intimate but spacious setting. The couple booked via Chris’s website on djchrismack.co.uk back in April of this year.

Following the arrival of guests at 7pm and the later cutting of the cake and first dance at 8pm, the evening began with an early mix of tracks from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Eurythmics, Florence & the Machine and the Police to warm up the guests, before moving into a little Britpop from the likes of Blur, Pulp and Supertramp.

After setting the tempo, it was time for a large indie set over the next two hours. Although there are far too many to list here, these included (in no particular order) the Kooks, Kasabian, the Hives, the Strokes, Libertines, followed by The Pigeon Detectives and Arctic Monkeys before the set finished at 11pm with the iconic Foo Fighters anthem ‘The Pretender’.

The wedding couple had also asked for some Pop Punk on their playlist. Paul was happy to oblige with ten or so tracks from artists such as Wheatus, the Offspring, Fountains of Wayne, Blink 182 and Linkin Park, before rocking the house down with the riotous Papa Roach – Last Resort and Rage Against the Machine’s – Killing in the Name Of.

‘Live Forever’ by Oasis was the penultimate track. The bride and groom specially requesting Semisonic’s ‘Closing Time’ as their final track of the evening.

The couple were really chuffed with how the music for the evening had been put together. Several guests who also thanked Paul in person.
Paul and the team hope that Wes and Hannah have a very enjoyable honeymoon in the Lake District. We would also like to wish them all the very best for the future.
